What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of awareness during which the mind becomes more receptive to suggestions. It is brought about by an overload mechanism all humans have. Hypnotherapists are trained to gently induce this state and use positive suggestions and imagery to create the desired change in the subconscious mind.

What is hypnosis not?

Hypnosis is not a solution to all problems. It is also not a magic bullet to the issues it does address. It is a powerful and helpful tool for aligning the subconscious and conscious and positively affecting belief systems, but it is not a replacement for medical help. Can you make me do something I do not want to do with hypnosis?

No, absolutely not. Hypnosis can not make anyone do anything which violates their personal morals or ethics. Contrary to popular belief, people under hypnosis gain greater control over themselves, not less. We will work together to build a strategy you are completely comfortable with. Hypnosis can not make you divulge secrets or act against your own interests, it is impossible.

Can I be hypnotized?

Most humans experience hypnosis every day without realizing it. It is a natural state activated by conflict between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. People require different methods of hypnosis due to different forms of suggestibility. In our first session, I will test your suggestibility to ascertain what the best approach for you will be. All humans have a sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, therefore all humans can be hypnotized.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is experienced differently by everyone. Hypnosis will feel familiar to those who are adept at meditation, as the states are very similar. Some experience deep relaxation, others heightened awareness. People achieve different levels of "depth" in hypnosis. You will not lose consciousness or any of your sensory ability nor will you at any time feel "trapped". No matter the "depth" achieved suggestions should still be effective.

Do I need to come into an office?

Hypnotherapy does not need to be in-person enable to work. Lunar hypnosis offers both in-person and zoom appointments.

Do I need a medical referral?

To work with issues with a possible medical cause we need to give notice to your doctor to rule out unknown medical issues and to make sure we are practicing within scope. It is an easy process. If you suspect this may apply to you we will have a free consultation about it prior to your first appointment.

Is hypnosis or hypnotherapy covered by my insurance?

You should contact your insurance provider to see if they will reimburse you for your hypnosis sessions. Most health insurance providers do not currently cover hypnotherapy.

Is hypnotherapy a medical treatment?

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy. Hypnotherapy is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease or illness, nor any psychological or mental health condition. Hypnotherapy is not to replace consultation with an appropriately qualified practitioner. The contents of this site are not medical advice. Any doubts or concerns about your health should be initially brought to your doctor or other medically qualified professional.

Why is the first session longer?

The first session is notably different from follow-up sessions, and a lot happens during it. In the first session, we focus primarily on conditioning the client to hypnosis and achieving depth. This allows subsequent sessions to be much more effective. The processes used in the first session take more time and a longer session allows you to not rush through the experience.

What is your cancellation & refund policy?

All cancellations must be 24 hours or more from your appointment or you will be charged the full amount for your session. Cancellations 24 hours or more from the time of your appointment will be issued a full refund.
